16 March 1994 Mark-III version information The MKIII K-Coronameter MK3) has been in operation since 1980. Since the start of the project much progress has been made in understanding the calibration of polarimeters. Changes in both the instrument and calibration technique have led to a series of versions of the data. Currently all MK3 images have an ascii footer at the end of the data array. You may view the footer (on a UNIX operating system) by typing: tail -20 imagename Please note that daily images with the ascii footer are in the ftp directory: ftp/mk3/img/daily/year/month/quan ~~~~ the qual directory contains sun rasterfile format images and they do NOT ~~~~ have a footer. There are roughly 3 versions of the data: ******************************************************************************** 1. Those images that do NOT have the footer attached and/or end in filenames: *.rq *.srq These are the VERY OLD calibration and should be discarded. If you have images of this type please contact someone at HAO and we will re-calibrate them for you. ******************************************************************************** $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 2.
