The following is a list of activity as seen by the observers at the Mauna Loa Solar Observatory (MLSO) in Hawaii. Additional information may be added by the personnel at the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) where the data is processed and analyzed. The initials of the HAO personnel are indicated in parenthesis. Dates are given by calendar day and by year/day-of-year. Key of abbreviations: ADF - Active dark filament AFS - Arch filament system AP - Active Prominence APR - Active Prominence Region AR - Active Region ASR - Active Surge Region BOU - Boulder, Colorado Observatory BSD - Bright surge on the disk BSL - Bright surge on the limb CME - Coronal Mass Ejection CRN - Coronal rain DPMON - Digital prominence monitor DSD - Dark surge on the disk DSF - Disappearing filament EPL - Eruptive prominence on the limb MDP - Mound prominence MLSO - Mauna Loa Solar Observatory QP - Quiescent prominence PA - Position angle (measured counterclockwise from north pole. eg. east equator = 90 degrees, west equator = 270 degrees) RV - Radius vector UT - Universal Time WL - White light NOTE: (bracketed letters indicate observer's initials) ***************************************************************************** 1/1/81 81d001 CME in progress @ 18:56-19:23 UT. It's quite large ranging from 0-90 degrees. There is prominence material near 75 degrees (djs) 1/24/81 81d024 CME @ PA 85. There is some prominence material though the event is rather faint. Takes places from 22:56-23:23 UT. (djs) 1/25/81 81d025 CME @ PA 85. It is very quick. Event takes place from 21:02- 21:17 UT. (djs) 2/1/81 81d032 CME @ PA 90. It takes place from 22:22-23:03 UT. (djs) 3/6/81 81d065 CME @ PA 95. It takes place from 18:19-20:01 UT. It is still in progress at the end of this time. (djs) 3/8/81 81d067 CME @ PA 275. It is quite faint, so look close. The event occurs from 18:21-18:51 UT. (djs) 3/12/81 81d071 Looks like there could be a CME @ PA 80. It is exteremly noisy, so it is hard to tell. Looks like it begins at 22:51 UT. Not sure when it ends. (djs). 4/7/81 81d097 CME at PA: 60. Not much prominence material, but a beautiful advancing loop. The event takes place from 18:40-19:33 UT. (djs) 4/10/81 81d100 CME at PA: 250. The CME is very faint and thin. It takes place from 17:31-18:04 UT. (djs) 4/13/81 81d103 Large CME at PA: 290. It is faint, but the advancing loop is very visible. The event takes place from 18:53-19:15 UT. (djs) 4/16/81 81d106 Small and faint CME at PA: 95 Can be seen from 18:53-19:49 UT., but it may still be in progress after this point. The data is too noisy to see further activity after 19:49 UT. (djs) 4/24/81 81d114 A huge double loop CME at PA: 60-90. Occurs from 21:40-22:46 UT. The 1st loop is actually the advancing wave front followed by the prominence material ejecting out. (djs) 5/11/81 81d131 A CME at PA: 60 from 18:28-19:34 UT. (djs) 6/5/81 81d155 A CME in progress at PA: 45 from 18:13-18:46 UT. (djs) 6/12/81 81d162 A Big faint CME b/w PA: 90-150 from 18:48-19:47 UT.
