The sun is behind a big cloud bank right now, I'll start observing when it gets above that. Starting observations. CHIP COMMENT: Thu Nov 13 17:50:10 GMT 1997 Still waiting for tape to load. There was a tape in the drive but the drive was off since we weren't using the instrument for a while. Now the top LED is blinking amber and the middle LED is constant green, when I tried to eject the tape it eventually went back to this same state and the tape didn't eject. CHIP COMMENT: Thu Nov 13 17:58:00 GMT 1997 Top amber light means there is an error or the drive needs to be cleaned, middle LED means there is SCSI activity. I logged out and back in and tried Run again, it said to make the tape ready, but the middle LED went out and the bottom one came on. I tried to eject the tape and the LEDs went back to the first state, I pressed the eject button again and finally the tape settled down so that only the bottom green LED was on, this is normal. So I pressed the eject button one more time and the tape ejected, I checked the tape itself and it was crinkled so I threw it away and cleaned the drive and loaded a different tape. "Run" ran, and I think I'm in business now. It is bouncing quite a bit and needs better balancing. I talked to David about the Display window image uneven illunimation and he will copy over the image and look at it. Since the Camera window images have looked evenly illuminated this problem may not be due to instrument alignment, I hope. In the cmdtool window are these lines: Disk /local/d/Data/Focus/temp write error Display exit and the Display window is gone again. David mentioned that when we tried to run Focus on Kii the data wern't going to disk. CHIP COMMENT: Thu Nov 13 22:04:47 GMT 1997 Started up Patrol after several unsuccessful attempts at running Focus. Had to do Kill/Run cycle and kill the Display and Disk tasks as well as a few more I think. I manually set the focus micrometer to 21000 for now. I wonder if the Focus program is trying to communicate with Nene instead of Kii for some reason, see last PICS comment.
