No observing until the clouds clear more. COMMENT: Wed Dec 2 17:22:19 GMT 1998 The electricians are up here to work on the lights and the UPS receptacle and the isolation transformer. Wed Dec 2 17:49:20 GMT 1998 CHIP Startup--Initializing new tape **MLSO PROBLEM**: Wed Dec 2 22:42:53 GMT 1998 OK, we fixed most things. The receptacle for the UPS is in. The isolation transformer is now connected correctly, we had to tie the Neutral and Ground together at the transformer like I thought, we also tied the transformer directly to the nearby ground cable. There was no point in passing the Neutral through a transformer as had been done, so the Neutral and Ground are tied together on the building side of the transformer. That fixed the 30 VAC offset and the lighting ground current. The dimmer switches for the flourescent lights were incompatible with the ballasts in the lights, they will reorder the correct switches and come back with them later. They will also make us a 5' extension cord for the UPS so it can be plugged into the new ceiling receptacle. The lights are safe and can be used now, but they are at the brightest setting only.
