----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Oct 5 16:27:34 GMT 1999 Year: 99 Doy: 278 Observer: yasukawa WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Oct 5 16:28:13 GMT 1999 Cool, clear, light south wind. **LOW-L PROBLEM**: Tue Oct 5 16:28:28 GMT 1999 After increasing wing 2 setpoint to 134 yesterday, we noticed as we were leaving that the LOWL was not pointing correctly. Not sure if there was any causal relationship. Rebooted machine at around 23:56 UT yesterday. Unloaded L00631, data going to L00632, loaded L00633 in drive 0. Tue Oct 5 16:32:28 GMT 1999 CHIP Startup--Initializing new tape **LOW-L PROBLEM**: Tue Oct 5 16:39:13 GMT 1999 There was no change in the wing2 temperature from yesterday's mod. Either changing value from the PC does nothing and something needs to be tweaked outside, or we are driving the heater with all the power we can muster. To test this we changed the value from 134 to 125. If this change works the temperature should drop with no power limitations. The old unit was left in to display the PC settings. He is getting Ron to write up a procedure to change the setting. Tue Oct 5 20:08:49 GMT 1999 CHIP End Water **MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Oct 5 20:47:35 GMT 1999 Phase dropouts were apparently being caused by taking off the monitor sync signal from the transformation board. When we removed the connectors to the coax the problem did not appear after about an hour of running. The problem reappeared as soon as David reconnected the coax. We removed the connection.
