----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Mar 12 21:48:08 GMT 2015 Year: 15 Doy: 071 Observer: berkey GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY berkey: Thu Mar 12 21:48:14 GMT 2015 We did not make it to the observatory. Snow had drifted up to 6" on some of the steeper hills within about 1 mile of the observaotry. We waited just below the snow line for about 2.5 hours for conditions to impove. But durring that time the mountain was plagued with heavy fog, light snow and winds of 30mph with higher gusts. Todays plan for checking out the spar clutch and kcor modulator will be put off for tomrrow when hopefully we will have crate #6 with the kcor mounts however at Noon HST the crate still appears to be in Menphis waiting for a flight honolulu (then Hilo). ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY berkey: Thu Mar 12 21:52:25 GMT 2015 A quick check of the cameras shows that as of noon noone has made it all the way up to the observatory. However skies have now cleared up so hopefully we get a big melt this afternoon and no new snow tonight. ___end___
