----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Oct 23 16:47:20 GMT 2016 Year: 16 Doy: 297 Observer: waters WEATHER COMMENT: waters: Sun Oct 23 16:47:28 GMT 2016 Temp is at a surprising 49F but the wind is making it feel cooler than that. Windspeed is at about 18mph from the Southeast but I have a feeling that the anemometer that we get our readings is being blocked by our building because it's howling outside and if you step out of the buildings protection, it feels like it's above 23mph. Will wait for either the wind to calm down or the dome not to be in the path of the wind. There seems to be a lot of scattering going on at present and there is some cirrus to the North and East. Otherwise, the sky is clear. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY waters: Sun Oct 23 16:53:21 GMT 2016 Restarted Kcor computer as the temp modulator wasn't updating. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Sun Oct 23 19:48:29 GMT 2016 Thought the wind had calmed a bit but it was just a lull, currently reading 23 mph winds but again, if you walk outside the shelter of the building, the wind feels higher. Keeping the dome closed until conditions change. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Sun Oct 23 21:47:43 GMT 2016 Wind has calmed down a bit but now there is cirrus covering the whole sky at present... ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Mon Oct 24 01:57:29 GMT 2016 No data today; hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. ___end___
