Yesterday the R-Cam was not installed. So the we started off by installing that camera. Since the T-Cam need 20thousands of shimms under it was assumed the R-Cam would need that as well. However the front foot of the camera mount is inaccessable with the PBS installed. A note of the PBS image location was taken on T-cam the then PBS was remove and the R-cam was shimmed up. The PBS was then reinstalled and re-shimmed to get back to the reference location. The bessel beam was then repointed to line up with the center of the T-Cam. And the the R-Cam was moved in its mounts to attempt to find the best alignment, unfortunatly it was found that the camera mount did no have enough range to recenter the beam. At this point I am no sure what the best course of action will be to center this going forward. Steps TBD. After the camera was installed work was done to close up the rest of the instrumnet enclosure so we test some other aspects of the alignment on T-cam. I am espeically worried about checking if the instrument plate is in the correct place to allow the O1 to focus on every wavelength. If it is not we will have to remove most of the optics from the instrument plate to get to the screws needed to slide it back or forward w.r.t. the O1. This will require a repeat of the alignment done over the last 2 days. Bessel beam and shelf it mounted was removed to allow for motion of the diffuser. (PSM is till on the spar) Spar was re-balanced 50 pounds of bricks were installed on the shelf below the guider. 30 Pounds of dumb-bell weights were removed from the all-thread balance rod on the bottom of the spar. Dec balance was not check by loosing the clutches but the spread sheet says it should be in an accecptable range of balance. Current state of the instrument: Piggy back plate installed (not yet wired) Field lens install modulator installed and wired (not yet tested) lyot filter installed and wired (not yet tested) PBS installed cameras installed and wired (not tested since reverting chaning over to use connectors thru the bulkhead) Still todo (other than testing of the above): Install diffuser Wire up shutter wire up base plate heaters install and wire occulter stage install and wire calibration optics install and wire filterwheel ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Wed Jan 06 21:11:53 GMT 2021 Kccor came up in the wrong state when first started.
