LOW-L COMMENT: Sat Sep 21 17:20:31 GMT 1996 Since it is cloudy I have stopped the program to install the Code Load Tape in each drive that will change the drive firmware to default to High Density Compressed Data Format. So I removed it and restarted the observations with L00416 in drive #0 and L00417 in drive #1. I only tried the Code Load Tape on drive #0 in case something goes wrong we will have a known good drive (#1). I'll check with Vic on Monday. Only 6 scans would be written before the screen would show error: mtwrite of data then the tape would pop out. This is probably the problem that Eric had with drdrive #0 twice this month. I had just cleaned drive #1 before trying to start but neither drive would take beyond 6 scans. I tried dozens of different iterations but to make a long story short I cleaned the drives (2nd time for drive #1) and tried again, it popped out the tape from drive #0 but continued writing to drive #1. So I left the mislabeled tapes in their drives and relabeled them to be in order. I also cleaned drive #0 a second time then put the tape back in there. I'll talk to Exabyte about this problem on Monday, also not sure if the "Code Load Tape" worked for drive #0 since it didn't pop out as it should have. So data is apparently ging to L00416 in drive #1 now.
