PICS camera returned from KODAK MASD yesterday afternoon. Removed from
box and tested with short cable on the workbench and shutter worked OK.

jamming spar around while working upstairs.
**CHIP PROBLEM**: Fri Jul 2 19:06:32 GMT 1999
THere is no smudging on the front surface of the CHIP filter but
I can see smudging on the edge of the back element. Attempting to
remove the smudge.
MKIV COMMENT: Fri Jul 2 19:08:09 GMT 1999
Stopping MKIV/III. Spar is way out of balance, I am leaning on things,
and spar is not pointing toward the sun for the most part.
**CHIP PROBLEM**: Fri Jul 2 19:55:49 GMT 1999
Moved filter as far forward as I could without jeopardizing the
connectors and running the dovetail off the rail. Cleaned off smudge
with foam-tipped swabs and minimal ethanol using an inspection mirror
to view surface. Dusted it off with the compressor. Remounted filter
against the camera shield.

graininess around darker features in south look similar to features in
the north when viewed on the focus window. Contrast improves using
table 3 colorizing. Will wait for Boulder scrutiny to see if there was
significant improvement due to the filter window cleaning.
PICS COMMENT: Fri Jul 2 20:25:15 GMT 1999
I may jostle the spar around again as I next work on re-installing the
Kodak Megaplus 1.6i camera into the PICS and work on positioning the
image.

PICS COMMENT: Fri Jul 2 22:01:26 GMT 1999
OK! Centered image as best I could and then did a rough focus to find
a good range. Applied a Hartman mask to front of O1 and repeated
focus iterations until I found, in my opinion, a good focus.
Buttoned up the PICS and started a series of data scans.
