**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 17:01:19 GMT 1999
There was a funny in the NW sector of MKIV and MKIII images. Looked down
tube and saw a large chip of something resting on the slot mask. Stopping
to remove object. This is what might have caused the "chip" incident a
few weeks ago.
Tue Jul 27 17:13:41 GMT 1999 MKIV Start Patrol
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 17:13:51 GMT 1999
"chip" was a piece of rubber gasket material, possibly from the air
circulation system (corrugated aluminum hoses/filtration box/fans).
I could not see anything inside the light tube that indicated any
rubber gaskets, much less a broken one. Piece was approximately
2-inches long and 1/2-inch wide at its widest, kinda fingernail-shaped.
It is out of the system now.
**** EVENT COMMENT ****: Tue Jul 27 17:20:01 GMT 1999
Active region continues. PA 65-90.
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 17:43:03 GMT 1999
Stopping MKIV to reboot the KCC to pick up new code that David hopes
will reduce the noise in the MKIV.

**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 17:53:20 GMT 1999
Having difficulty getting barrel to go anywhere it recognizes.
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 17:56:45 GMT 1999
Patrol is finally scanning, but I do not see any coronal signal in
the image display.

**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 18:11:26 GMT 1999
Data was there, David fixed display gains so we can see the data.
Rebooted KCC to pick up new code. This time, I did an End Day (twice)
to run the barrel to the north like when we shut down to allow the
barrel to start at a familiar PA after the KCC reset.
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 18:14:42 GMT 1999
Still cannot see image on display, even at the highest available
gain (4). Assuming data is still there so I will run it, utilizing
MKIII Xanim display to monitor corona until David gets back to
fix the problem.

PICS COMMENT: Tue Jul 27 22:33:17 GMT 1999
Stopping PICS. Cannot keep both PICS and MKIV in slot at this time.
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 22:34:13 GMT 1999
Determined that gains were set too high and image was saturated by looking
at MKIV image at .25. Corona was visible and "hot" at this gain setting.
David reset the gains and we now have a good range, corona is back!
MKIII image gain was also changed so David adjusted it. Waiting for
scan to finish to reset KCC to pick up new changes.
Tue Jul 27 22:42:49 GMT 1999 MKIV Start Patrol
**MKIV PROBLEM**: Tue Jul 27 22:47:30 GMT 1999
Both MKIII and MKIV gain ranges for the KCC display look good.
Shutting down for the day before I break something else and David won't
be able to leave for his vacation.
