Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon Oct 3 16:48:35 GMT 1994 Year: 94 Doy: 276 Observer: yasukawa WEATHER COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 16:48:56 GMT 1994 Cool, clear, light southeast breeze. Temp = 48F. Mon Oct 3 16:54:45 GMT 1994: Patrol Start MKIII COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 16:54:54 GMT 1994 MKIII looking at wall, standing by. Mon Oct 3 17:00:56 GMT 1994: Calibration COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 17:42:19 GMT 1994 Hah! I discovered the mystery of the cursor in the Status Box. A cursor appears in the Objective button if the pointer happens to be traversing the status window when it becomes active, i.e. when one of the status buttons change, like camera idle to busy. Mon Oct 3 18:00:57 GMT 1994: Calibration DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 18:10:18 GMT 1994 Reconfigured to disc-preferred mode. DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 18:32:46 GMT 1994 Restored back to limb-preferred mode. This will be just a learning process so that a procedure can be established. Mon Oct 3 20:39:50 GMT 1994: Patrol Start MKIII COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 20:46:52 GMT 1994 Opal was in when started back up. Removed opal at this time. Mon Oct 3 21:01:00 GMT 1994: Calibration DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 21:23:48 GMT 1994 Big static zap from my knuckle to OCP. Somebody took off, probably the objective wheel. Reset Plessey. Stopped Patrol, resetting optics via manual control. DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 21:38:55 GMT 1994 Occulting wheel was at limit. Moved it off limit with external power supply. Does not respond to commands. DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 21:55:59 GMT 1994 Runaway killed the occulting wheel motor driver. Replaced motor driver card with spare card and tested, works OK. Removed card to workbench to troubleshoot and repair, running with spare for now. Mon Oct 3 22:02:46 GMT 1994: Patrol Start Mon Oct 3 22:06:17 GMT 1994: Patrol End Mon Oct 3 22:09:35 GMT 1994: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Mon Oct 3 22:11:15 GMT 1994 Things were crazy for a while, but I think we're back to normal now. The Daystar was running away for a bit at the previous startup, I thought it was the objective wheel and tried to stop it, that got the camera stuck in busy when I tried to run the camera in manual mode to determine when the objective was in the correct position. Used Clearbusy to unstick that. Running patrol OK now.
