DPMON COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:00:20 GMT 1995 late startup, one of the fans in the Plessey was very noisy and was stalling. Removed covers and lubricated bearings to get it running again. quiet now. Wed Apr 26 17:07:41 GMT 1995: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:15:49 GMT 1995 Daystar runaway. Reset Plessey. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:24:36 GMT 1995 Coronal trace still noisy. Will try swapping analog corrector boards today, starting with chan 0 memory board. Powering down MKIII to do swap. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:31:29 GMT 1995 Swapped cards from chan 2 and chan 0. Restarted to test. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:36:41 GMT 1995 Coronal scan is a lot quiter. Will run in this configuration for a while to determine if fix wasn't caused by cycling of power rather than the swap. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:45:06 GMT 1995 When there's smoke, there's fire... just noticed that chan 1 is flat. Looking into it. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 17:46:44 GMT 1995 Wow, it just came back up as I walked back over to the monitors. Wed Apr 26 18:02:03 GMT 1995: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 18:04:44 GMT 1995 Stoope scan to check signals at DCSA. COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 18:19:46 GMT 1995 Bumped spar while working on chan 1 problem. repointed. COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 18:53:06 GMT 1995 Sorry, still pushing on spar and upsetting guiding while troubleshooting chan1. Wed Apr 26 19:01:55 GMT 1995: Calibration Wed Apr 26 20:02:00 GMT 1995: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 20:05:58 GMT 1995 Guiding was hosed while I did some channel swapping on mkiii. opened top of dome in the meantime, also. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 20:47:46 GMT 1995 Tried a number of swaps and concluded that the Line driver on down are OK. I managed to get the loaf back on chan 3 by adjusting the balance and offset on chan 3 preamp. Offset was very unstable and loaf on monitor jumps around a lot. Wed Apr 26 21:01:55 GMT 1995: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 21:04:47 GMT 1995 Offset is common mode so P-S is stable in Ch1. Looked at PCOM in relation to case and did not see any offsets. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 21:34:19 GMT 1995 Swapped preamps 3 and 5, op chan 3 and 5 respectively, and after adjusting the offset and balance, I got the same offset instability. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 21:46:19 GMT 1995 Tried swapping P detectors from op chan 3 with op chan 4. Found a piece of aluminized tape or shim material in op chan 3 detector holder along 2/5 of ledge. Not sure why it was there and why it was not either all the way around, or applied equally to either sides. Removed it. Wed Apr 26 22:02:02 GMT 1995: Calibration Wed Apr 26 22:07:05 GMT 1995: Patrol End MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 22:50:26 GMT 1995 Unstable offset cause was found to be poor connection at corcom filter on the back of the wrap-up. Removed connections and inspected for broken wires and then reseated the connectors. P+S trace as well as offset stable. Swapped detectors back to original channels. Preamps still swapped, will restore them next. We may have to realign chan 1 as P+S and P-S profiles are now different. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 23:25:50 GMT 1995 Preamps swapped back to starting configuration, OP chan3 has preamp #3 installed. Adjusted rotation of P detector until P+S and P-S looked its best. Restored all covers, screws, etc. Will probably need to do a mask scan to document any change in height, although S detector was not moved. Also will probably need to do a correct on channel 1. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 23:39:37 GMT 1995 running scans with mask and opal in place to document any height changes that may have occurred by removing the channel 1 (OP3) P detector. Wed Apr 26 23:43:06 GMT 1995: Patrol Start WEATHER COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 23:48:03 GMT 1995 Wind is buffeting the spar quite a bit. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Apr 26 23:56:32 GMT 1995 Removed mask, commencing correction to chan 1. Thu Apr 27 00:01:57 GMT 1995: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Thu Apr 27 00:06:53 GMT 1995 CORRECT pau.
