Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri May 12 16:26:22 GMT 1995 Year: 95 Doy: 132 Observer: yasukawa console May 12 16:24 WEATHER COMMENT: Fri May 12 16:26:59 GMT 1995 Cold, in heavy altocumulus overcast, clouds broken, but clear holes of significant size very sparse, strong southeast wind approx. 30 mph continues. Temp=46F. COMMENT: Fri May 12 16:28:32 GMT 1995 Continuing effort to repair spar guider. COMMENT: Fri May 12 21:57:44 GMT 1995 Found the problem after revisiting the motor. The gears are stripped on both the on that was in use and in the spare--some spare huh? Thanks to Howard Hull's guidance, the troubleshooting went a lot faster by prompting me to question some of my test results from yesterday and taking a second look at many of the tests I ran. Howard will look thru their spares today for a good spare and try calling Vernitron ASAP (they're closed already) for a new one if one can't be located at HAO. COMMENT: Fri May 12 22:05:12 GMT 1995 Put everything back into place, except for motor and access covers. No observations. Another green dot day. No observations tomorrow. DAK on vacation and EAY will regroup. Will check email and LOWL operation on Sunday. Doubt part will be here by then. WEATHER COMMENT: Fri May 12 22:08:47 GMT 1995 Still in clouds--not missing any obs anyway. COMMENT: Fri May 12 22:09:08 GMT 1995 Tapes: LOWL: L00235 Fri May 12 22:09:48 GMT 1995: Filemark
