Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Sep 17 16:44:26 GMT 1995 Year: 95 Doy: 260 Observer: yasukawa console Sep 17 16:42 WEATHER COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 16:44:44 GMT 1995 Cool, clear, light south wind. LOW-L COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 16:44:59 GMT 1995 L00311 popped, loaded L00313 into unit 1. Unit 0 probably did not start this morning, image display blank, time stopped at 9/17 16:14:00 UT. Resetting to attempt to restart LOWL. Coelostat is pointed in general direction of sun. Message was frozen on frame grab. MKIII COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 16:56:44 GMT 1995 Half-waveplate drive still making unusual noises. Checking out noise before commencing observations with MKIII. Sun Sep 17 16:57:56 GMT 1995: Patrol Start Sun Sep 17 17:00:48 GMT 1995: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 17:10:52 GMT 1995 Gear backlash as Darryl called it seems diminished after I disassembled the unit and I concur that there seems to be no problem. The motor seemed more noisy than before, but that may be due to more attention paid to the unit's noise. Manual turning of the motor did not reveal any drag or any unusual sounds. Starting observations. LOW-L COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 17:16:31 GMT 1995 LOWL running OK. All parameters in the green. DPMON COMMENT: Sun Sep 17 17:50:42 GMT 1995 Possible EPL or limbflare at PA 70-80.
