Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Oct 5 16:51:57 GMT 1995 Year: 95 Doy: 278 Observer: yasukawa console Oct 5 16:48 WEATHER COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 16:52:39 GMT 1995 In cirrus overcast, cool, light southwest wind. COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 16:53:04 GMT 1995 Will use down-time for some maintenance tasks. Will not start-up observing programs at this time. LOW-L COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 16:53:54 GMT 1995 L00321 popped. Loaded L00323 into unit 1. WEATHER COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 22:14:27 GMT 1995 In cirrus all morning. No observations. DPMON COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 22:14:50 GMT 1995 Further troubleshooting on M1 mirror problem. Rang out cables to confirm documents and found some discrepancies. Will correct documentation at a later date. Found a broken wire in the cable between the spar junction panel and the M1 mechanism. Removed cable for later repair. COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 22:16:48 GMT 1995 Used cirrus time to check out spare guider declination motors. Arbitrarily labelled them sp1 and sp2. Operational motor labelled O. Both spares apparently are factory phased. No adjustment needed. Sp1 seemed more responsive than sp2 but the cirrus variation may have been a factor in the difference. Decided to install sp1 in place of reinstalling O, as O has been a bit sluggish. I'll run sp1 for a few days to see if there is an improvement in guider operation. COMMENT: Thu Oct 5 22:20:55 GMT 1995 No observations with MKIII & DPMON. Tapes: LOWL: L00322 Thu Oct 5 22:22:04 GMT 1995: Filemark
