Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Feb 27 17:36:27 GMT 1996 Year: 96 Doy: 058 Observer: koon console Feb 27 17:34 WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 17:37:30 GMT 1996 Mostly clear sky with clouds blocking the sun to the East and more clouds coming over from the West, wind=5 mph from the SSW, temp=33 F. Tue Feb 27 17:45:55 GMT 1996: Patrol Start Tue Feb 27 17:50:35 GMT 1996: Filemark Tue Feb 27 18:10:28 GMT 1996: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 18:10:34 GMT 1996 I just rebooted the computer because data wasn't being written to tape. When I started up I noticed that the MKIII tape from yesterday wasn't ejected from the drive, that may have been related to the cause of the problem. I tried exiting like normal but that didn't work, things stalled with a blank white screen, so I rebooted the computer. WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 18:32:35 GMT 1996 Orographic clouds are moving by now. MKIII COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 18:33:34 GMT 1996 The calibration I am running is getting ruined by clouds, I will retry later. Tue Feb 27 19:02:05 GMT 1996: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 19:11:17 GMT 1996 2nd attempt at a cal didn't turn out either. The diode values are strange and the lower scan looks bad, not sure why, maybe there are some light clouds or something that I can't see. I'll try again later. WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 19:36:37 GMT 1996 Fog moving in, closed dome. Tue Feb 27 19:37:00 GMT 1996: Patrol End WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 22:10:52 GMT 1996 Fog isn't clearing, closing down. COMMENT: Tue Feb 27 22:12:46 GMT 1996 Activity report: QP: 53; 120; 134; 252. No coronal activity. TAPES: ****** MKIII: H01231 DPMON: P00555 LOW-L: L00374 in drive #0 NOTE: Many of the scans in the scan-log below are labeled as CL, maybe because I aborted 2 different cals before they were done and something in the labeling system wasn't set right. I didn't get a good cal.
