Confirmed Darryl's findings about timing signals not being affected and that the problem seems to be limited to chan 0. These are the blue amphenol connectors held down by delrin clamps mounted on the back end of the barrel. I marked the suspect connector with a red grease pencil mark on the clamp. I wiggled the wire and got noise on the waveform, although it was a little different from the noise we had been getting. I cycled the contact and the waveform quieted down. I have been running a while now and the radial noise in the corona and the erratic P+S "loaf-of-bread" on the monitor have not recurred. CHIP COMMENT: Wed Dec 4 20:22:17 GMT 1996 CHIP might have crashed. Fixing. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Dec 4 20:39:46 GMT 1996 Just recalled a possible scenario for a cause of radial noise. While working on the last problem of the wave-plate encoder signal loss, I put a dent on the top of my head while standing up from a kneeling position not realizing that I was under the spar. That dent may match the connector or the clamp.
