Once this became apparent and waiting to get mkIII data seemed improbable, I turned off the analog and inspected the amphenol connector and wiring that had been giving us all the radial noise. Visually, it looked OK. I brought up a spare set from our Hilo inventory so I pulled off the heat-shrink to inspect the solder joints. White wire to PCOM parted easily while removing heat-shrink from solder cup on connecter. Cut all wires after documenting the wiring and installed new connector. Checked signal and it looks like I did not hose anything in doing the fix. Diddled with both final lens lateral translation and detector rotation as I could not get a decent waveform by adjusting either alone. I got a nice ramp finally with opal in, unfortunately there is a positive signal offset in P-S, but let's try this alignment for now. I ran correct. Not able to see results due to cirrus overcast. COMMENT: Wed Dec 11 21:55:27 GMT 1996 I will end the day here as soon as CHIP does BLDR. I have to get into town by 2:00. Activity report: DPMON limb image mostly washed out by cirrus.
