I was able to make "ping" contact between kii and nene, although I couldn't get a response from puu in Boulder. Maybe the network problem occurred when CHIP tried to send an image to Boulder? Did a Kill/Run to fix. CHIP COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 17:29:55 GMT 1997 Had an Optics:Busy stall at same time as the dPMon stalled, see message for dPMon above. Fixed with Kill/Run. LOW-L COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 17:32:33 GMT 1997 Lowl reset file number to 0 around 2300 ut yesterday. Should have seen file number 54 this morning, but it showed file #7. This is on drive #0 which did this same type of thing (although at a different time of day) last time we used it, but it worked correctly and switched after 86 files several times just before these last two reset type problems. It looked like it was working and plotted the first sine-wave. Scan-log shows there are several file labeled with CL for cal, consider all but the last calibration to be bad. I had to type "programmer does forget task" to regain control of the console. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 18:33:35 GMT 1997 Had the same calibrations problem. Ejected tape after writing EOF, rebooted the computer, installed new tape, started over. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 18:44:28 GMT 1997 Can't get the computer to reboot. CHIP COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 19:45:20 GMT 1997 Crashed again with Optics:Busy about 1919 ut, which was about seven minutes after the dPMon crashed. No problem pinging kii or nene now, didn't notice crashes earlier as I tried to get the MKIII up and running. Fixed with Kill/Run. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 20:21:39 GMT 1997 Lost good O1 guiding in declination due to covering the O1 from the sun while extending the dome slot. Occulting overspill was in the South this time so I turned the N-S Spar adjusting screw 3/4 rev CW to improve occulting. Even though the arm at the back of the motor was hitting a limit and I couldn't get it to stay between limits (same problem yesterday afternoon) the O1 guiding was good and the O1 meter needles weren't at a limit on the OCP in the control room. Wed Jun 18 21:01:05 GMT 1997 CHIP Bias MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 21:00:02 GMT 1997 Still seeing strange things. Sometimes lines are missing when I do a PEEK, and SCAN-LOG doesn't work. I saw these problems with the original disk also. COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 21:41:42 GMT 1997 I think all these simultaneous crashes involving dPMon and CHIP may be related to the network connection problems I've been having all day, I got disconnected from Boulder at around the same time as those last crashes. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 21:43:06 GMT 1997 The program crashed again. It appears that there is a processor problem rather than a disk problem since this has happened using two different disks. I called DEC and Logged a Call for service. Wed Jun 18 21:54:42 GMT 1997 CHIP ending tape MKIII COMMENT: Wed Jun 18 22:33:49 GMT 1997 I reinstalled the original disk #0.
