----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Sep 4 16:56:18 GMT 1997 Year: 97 Doy: 247 Observer: yasukawa Thu Sep 4 16:56:21 GMT 1997 CHIP Startup--Initializing new tape WEATHER COMMENT: Thu Sep 4 16:57:10 GMT 1997 Cool, in thick and extensive cirrus overcast, light southeast wind. Cirrus too thick to guide effectively so will use this time to reorient myself after returning from vacation to a rather dynamic situation as far as physical surroundings and instrument statuses. DPMON COMMENT: Thu Sep 4 17:00:05 GMT 1997 nene's exabyte drive did not come up well this morning. I had to reboot the processor in the end to reestablish communication with it before the tape would load properly. At some point I will disconnect the keyboard so that I can clean the key which are quite dirty and grubby feeling. DPMON COMMENT: Thu Sep 4 17:14:14 GMT 1997 GUI halted when I reconnected keyboard and a text window opened requesting I type "go" to resume. That rebooted Sparcstation. Keyboard is clean. COMMENT: Thu Sep 4 18:29:47 GMT 1997 Going down to GONG to take care of weekly PM and to look into an instrument problem. LOW-L COMMENT: Thu Sep 4 22:50:21 GMT 1997 Replaced a SN74LS74A and a SN74LS04 chip on the piggyback board of the COHU controller and reinstalled back into spar. System appears to have come back up to normal operation. Image is dim yet, but that's because I turned spar power off to install. Filters are trying to reach operating temperature, I assume.
