Moved out tilt plates and started scans. WEATHER COMMENT: Wed Oct 29 20:23:09 GMT 1997 Sky is clear now. COMMENT: Wed Oct 29 20:29:47 GMT 1997 The spar was bouncing quite a bit in RA even though there is no wind. I checked up stairs and I could see that the MKIII O1 guiders were moving and the spar bounce was visible on our spar aimer. I was just about to adjust the guider gain when the O1 guiders stopped making noise and the spar stopped bouncing. I moved the spar but the O1 guiders wouldn't react. I check in the control room and the spar guiders were still working correctly. So it looks like when the O1 is moving during guiding it is moving the spar enough to affect spar guiding. Ideally we need to turn down the gain on the MKIII O1 guider control system loop, and maybe on the spar guiding control system as well. I still don't know why the O1 guiders suddenly stop guiding like this now and then, but that is when we get our best occulting and spar guiding. l Wed Oct 29 21:02:23 GMT 1997 PICS Flat Wed Oct 29 21:03:45 GMT 1997 PICS End Flat Wed Oct 29 21:04:16 GMT 1997 MKIII Start Patrol Wed Oct 29 21:04:16 GMT 1997 MKIII Start Patrol Wed Oct 29 22:02:25 GMT 1997 PICS Flat Wed Oct 29 22:03:50 GMT 1997 PICS End Flat Wed Oct 29 22:14:22 GMT 1997 MKIII End Patrol Wed Oct 29 22:14:22 GMT 1997 MKIII End Patrol Wed Oct 29 22:14:26 GMT 1997 PICS End Patrol COMMENT: Wed Oct 29 23:10:03 GMT 1997 In order to improve the spar balance, and hopefully the guiding as well, I added a few weights to the spar to compensate for the missing CHIP filter and filter temperature controller.
