COMMENT: Wed Nov 19 17:04:00 GMT 1997 There was a lot of thunderstorm activity last night and now I can see the poor quality of weatherproofing on the new addition, there are puddles of water on the floor that need to be cleaned up. At least a little water leaked in under the two new doors, but worse than that there are signs of roof leakage in both the new room and the new dome. The drywall tape is soggy and bubbled at some seams. I think most of the puddled water came from roof leaks (probably at the lap seams) that dripped onto the ceiling drywall and then down the inside of the interior wall drywall. I'll try to figure out where the leaks are after I clean up the water. COMMENT: Wed Nov 19 18:49:51 GMT 1997 The water leakage in the dome room is very minimal, it doesn't appear to be leaking anywhere on the dome itself, the leak(s) are probably in the surrounding metal roofing. The only place that water is pooling right now is near the slanted transition flashing that Charlie installed on the West side, which is also the side in the room and dome room that is leaking, this may be due to the storm hitting from that direction, there is also some hail piled up there. There may be leaks through the lap seams in the metal roofing but the main suspects are those roofing screws. Those screws have rubber washers and are leakproof if correctly installed, but some are installed carelessly and the washers aren't serving their purpose. I'll have to get up there when things dry out and seal up potential leaks with some silicone caulk. Overall there isn't much damage, mostly just unsightly drywall seams and potentially hazardous electrical connections in the walls and ceiling, I doubt any leaking water will get to the PSPT. This is why I built my own house. MKIII COMMENT: Wed Nov 19 19:34:17 GMT 1997 ***RECYCLED H01686 and H01687*** COMMENT: Wed Nov 19 23:30:57 GMT 1997 Cloudy and windy all day, no observations. Did get to check out the NOAA building dedication though. Wed Nov 19 23:31:56 GMT 1997 MkIII
