I traced it to what I believe is the Heat Rejection filter on the filter wheel, maybe it came loose or something. Stopped instrument, I'll have to take things apart again to check it out, don't know where the wheel is since we didn't get much PICS documentation. Will work on it if I get a chance. PSPT COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 19:43:01 GMT 1997 OK, this is now fixed and running again. PSPT COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 19:50:42 GMT 1997 Stalled again with a new set of errors. PICS COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 20:56:21 GMT 1997 Stopped other instruments, will open up PICS instrument to check out filter wheel and polarizer wheel problems. Sun Dec 21 20:58:34 GMT 1997 CHIP CHIP End Patrol PICS COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 21:49:44 GMT 1997 OK, I R+R the Polarizer Geneva Wheel Actuator Motor and Cam Assembly, the cam was loose on the end of the motor shaft after the clutch. I reassembled using some retaining compound on the setscrew and made sure t made good contact with the shaft flat. I also made sure the cam engaged the Geneva Wheel correctly and the location limit switch as well. It will need several days to dry before testing with motor, to be safe. The filter wheel problem isn't obvious, the wheel is turning and the filters are securely attached, will investigate more. PICS COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 22:14:07 GMT 1997 According to the displays, the Heat Rejection filter goes into the light path during the disk images. But when I try that manually it looks as though the images are overexposed. I looked ahead of the filter wheel and see what looks like metal tape and foam pieces around the light entry into the instrument after the periscope. Maybe another prefilter was there but fell out? I couldn't see anything in the instrument. Will keep looking. PICS COMMENT: Sun Dec 21 22:23:11 GMT 1997 OK, mystery solved, I took apart the rest of the instrument enclosure and found a loose glass filter ate the far back end. Will secure it in place at the front and close up the instrument. I tried Patrol again and the images look good. Problems are solved.
