LOW-L COMMENT: Wed May 20 18:48:19 GMT 1998 L00516 popped out of the temp drive #1 as it should have. Installed L00518 in that drive. Will soon go outside to change the heater setpoint to 30 and make a sketch of the inside of the box as requested by Kim. MKIII COMMENT: Wed May 20 18:51:04 GMT 1998 Calibration is underway, without "exercising" the shutter first, clouds will probably ruin the cal. Since the temperature for the E-bay has been low there had to be a problem with the sensor or controller. The temperature reading junped down from 28 to 23 instantaneously after I wiggled the sensor wire connections, then the heater came on as it should have. I talked to Kim and he said to leave the setpoint at 25 and keep sending the "twice daily" temperature readings, then we'll see how much things have changed. He also said we should simplify the SmartFan circuit by keeping it at a fixed temperature, I suggested some kind of tunable knob so we can change the setting when we want to, Kim said they'll send us something like that in the next few weeks. I also asked for some more tapes and explained how our tape drive problems have been linked mainly to one tape drive and have cost us a lot of data tapes. He said he'll send more tapes and a new tape drive. :09:14 GMT 1998 CHIP Bias Wed May 20 20:10:08 GMT 1998 CHIP End Bias Wed May 20 20:10:18 GMT 1998 CHIP Water Wed May 20 20:11:03 GMT 1998 CHIP End Water Wed May 20 20:11:17 GMT 1998 CHIP Velocity Wed May 20 20:12:32 GMT 1998 CHIP End Velocity WEATHER COMMENT: Wed May 20 20:19:41 GMT 1998 Orographic clouds have become very thick and have moved in, fog will start passing by soon, closing down.
