CHIP COMMENT: Mon Oct 5 16:49:59 GMT 1998 turned CHIP temperature controller on. Will not run CHIP for now but I will monitor filter temperature for a while to see if some of the crimps Darryl made were effective in improving continuity to the sensor. Will not run program for now. I will look for a replacement and if one is available, I will rig it up for use. CHIP COMMENT: Mon Oct 5 18:25:51 GMT 1998 CHIP filter temperature now in range at 34.397. Will monitor a bit. CHIP COMMENT: Mon Oct 5 18:28:47 GMT 1998 CHIP filter temp now overshooting in the red at 34.642. MKIII COMMENT: Mon Oct 5 18:44:31 GMT 1998 Alice complained about a possible smudge on the O1. There were a couple of faint water marks on the front surface which I cleaned off with alcohol. Whenever this is done, the O1 becomes a dust magnet for a while so there may be some polarization effects from dust for a while until the static charge dissipates. Sounded like a relay in the control box was clicking away. Clicking stopped and dome would not rotate using manual switch. Popped a circuit breaker. Reset it. Dome rotating OK. WEATHER COMMENT: Mon Oct 5 19:57:40 GMT 1998 Stopping obs due to thick altocumulus. **CHIP PROBLEM**: Mon Oct 5 20:46:10 GMT 1998 I concur with Darryl, the jack mounted on the filter is flaky. Cables are OK. Connector is a Johnson BMG panel connector (male). I would hesitate replacing it if we had a spare part without first consulting with Meadowlark Optics. Problem is with center pin and/or its connection with the wiring inside the filter. Vibration causes resistance to vary and sometimes lose continuity.
