MKIV COMMENT: Thu Oct 29 17:19:37 GMT 1998 The scans are looking very good now that the telescope sees above the bottom of the slot. I loaded a tape into the Nahenahe tape drive so that Alice can do some testing on putting MKIV data on tape for mailing. Right now the bandwidth available to MLSO is too small to allow sending data files via the Internet. MKIV COMMENT: Thu Oct 29 17:46:35 GMT 1998 Low prominences are visible around PA=160 and PA=260 with MKIV but not with MKIII. I disconnected the computer cable from that box and manually pointed the dome back to about where it was before it moved and then plugged in the cable again. It then pointed to the correct position and stopped. Maybe it took off in the wrong direction with this latest image series and got confused with the encoder readings, they were negative because the dome rotated a full revolution around as I watched to see if it would stop. Look on the PC for the desired dome location and point it close to that before plugging the cable back in.
