I checked the wheel, it wasn't turning, I removed the motor connector and verified 22 vdc coming through at right time, I reconnected the motor and it started turning. Possible loose connector, I'll try that again when it stalls again. Will continue with problem after the MKIV finishes the cal, I've been bumping the Spar a lot while working on this. So I went up into the dome to see if tapping the gearbox would make the wheel start turning, it didn't, the wheel didn't turn at all. Then I noticed a burnt smell so I looked around and couldn't find anything wrong upstairs so I went downstairs and found smoke coming out of the MCC cabinet and the terrible stench of burnt electronics. I turned off the main power to the cabinet and later found that the occulting wheel drive board was very toasted. No other apparent damage to nearby boards. Maybe that board was going bad and causing the stall problem. I cleaned up then used the PICS Objective Wheel Drive board in place of the toasted Occulting wheel drive board. I was then able to move the occulting wheel via computer. Everything else seems to work OK too, I tested with the Video program. The only oddity is that the Optics field still shows "Timeout". But I can see the LEDS showing that the occulting wheel moves correctly and the Home and Bit LEDs are working correctly. So we need a new PICS Occulting Wheel Drive board, and the control room stinks.
