GONG COMMENT: Thu Jan 13 18:54:57 GMT 2000 Back from the shelter, rebooted the workstation, still no improvement in xterminal - it still won't login to the workstation, maybe the FO network hub is bad. The workstation still doesn't show any images, a problem that they have been working on. The monitor above the optics table shows a solar image with the clouds blowing by, so it is pointed and tracking and seeing the sun. Will write the GONG folks about all this. Stopped Patrol, cleaned tape drive, installed a new tape and restarted the Patrol. NOAA switched the JPL line back with everyone else and now our network is slowed down horribly, I told NOAA and they are trying something else. We need that dedicated T1 line badly, even a low grade wireless T1 setup would be cheaper than what we pay now, and there must be decent handshaking software that would make the lower grade type T1 connection reliable. Mainly it would be nice to have something dedicated to us so it would be easier to troubleshoot because no other group would change things without warning. WEATHER COMMENT: Thu Jan 13 20:31:19 GMT 2000 Very thick altocumulus, closing down soon, it might rain. CHIP COMMENT: Thu Jan 13 20:36:05 GMT 2000 I didn't get a chance to use the second data tape due to clouds and lack of spar tracking. **MLSO PROBLEM**: Thu Jan 13 20:51:32 GMT 2000 OK, the network is back to normal, for as long as they leave it alone. During the JPL switcheroo they put us on a bad port of the hub. NOAA switched us to a good port and labeled the bad port. **GONG PROBLEM**: Thu Jan 13 20:53:42 GMT 2000 The xterminal logged into the workstation as soon as we were put on a good network port. WEATHER COMMENT: Thu Jan 13 20:55:26 GMT 2000 Foggy with rain possible.
