Sun Jun 30 20:56:14 GMT 2002 MKIV Start Patrol **GONG PROBLEM**: Sun Jun 30 21:04:45 GMT 2002 I was down there checking into the network equipment. I've made recommendations to GONG about the need for a dedicated 100 Mbit media converter in the shelter, this will uses the same communication standard as the desired port on our new network switch up here. Darryl Kuniyuki discovered the different standards and told me about it. The media converter connects directly to the Fiber Optic cables and converts to ideally a twisted pair cable for direct connection to the GONG workstation in the shelter. Currently there is a 10 Mbit media converter there and it won't communicate with the desired 100 Mbit port on our new network switch at MLSO. So our equipment here at MLSO is good, if GONG wants to connect to the desired port (and avoid the need for another media converter up here then they need a new 100 Mbit media converter down at the shelter end of the cable. **GONG PROBLEM**: Sun Jun 30 21:11:39 GMT 2002 Note that Groundwinds is currently connected and working in a similar port connection, their side of the cable had a 10/100 Mbit media converter that had to be changed to a dedicated 100 Mbit converter to function on our switch. The main problem was the new mount arm was interfering with the static mount assembly as the dust cap reached the almost open position, motor would stay under power and get hot too. I found a way to modify the limit switch actuator arm where it touches the switches. Reassembled all and tested, it is working very nicely now, limit switches are being actuated and turning off motor power at both ends of travel. I adjusted the cap so it closes better than the old cap too. All clearances are good.
