PSPT COMMENT: Mon Jul 15 16:39:48 GMT 2002 Starting daily observations. **PSPT PROBLEM**: Mon Jul 15 16:40:04 GMT 2002 PSPT PC's power supply cooling fan sounds noisy. Bearings may be getting flaky. Will wait for cloudy day to replace fan with one from spare PC power supplies if one of them fit the mounting arrangement. **PSPT PROBLEM**: Mon Jul 15 16:50:09 GMT 2002 Spar started up pointed close to sun--image partially on display. Starting Daily obs caused the spar to move away from centering--image completely off display. Aborted observations. Run Centering Image routine. PSPT COMMENT: Mon Jul 15 16:51:54 GMT 2002 Restarting daily observations. The moving streamers and changing brightness has not appeared. **PSPT PROBLEM**: Mon Jul 15 19:24:12 GMT 2002 PC power supply noise has faded now. I do not detect it any more. Fan is still running. Clamp was on the floor and the camcorder was hanging by the power cord, which I had tied up to toe spar structure as a strain relief and as a safety measure. Removed duct tape that was holding the various cables blocking the view of the cam mechanisms out of the way. Spar was jarred off the sun during the removal process. Started observations before pointing was corrected. Mon Jul 15 20:14:46 GMT 2002 PICS Start Patrol **PICS PROBLEM**: Mon Jul 15 20:14:36 GMT 2002 rats! cursor missed the Patrol button. PICS did not start up after the dome reconfiguration. WEATHER COMMENT: Mon Jul 15 20:40:39 GMT 2002 Scattered orographic clouds forming above. PSPT COMMENT: Mon Jul 15 20:41:56 GMT 2002 Spar pointed south. Looks like it went cloud chasing. Stopped PSPT observations. **** EVENT COMMENT ****: Mon Jul 15 21:10:29 GMT 2002 Large active region on disk, north of equator, near CMP, erupted beginning at around 2000 UT. Looks like intermittent oscillations in the O1 steering may have been causing the moving streamers--I did not see much evidence of them today with the guider off. If they return tomorrow then I'd say it was not the lens cleaning (the only change before turning the guider off--highly improbable cause, though...) that was causing the streamer movement.
