WEATHER COMMENT: Mon Apr 28 00:16:57 GMT 2003 Still cloudy and foggy. COMMENT: Mon Apr 28 02:03:28 GMT 2003 Tried to find ways to use a drill motor to crank down the bottom of the PSPT slot, presently it can be closed that way. I couldn't find a safe way to do it, I would need to disable the ratchet latch that keeps the door from opening more - but that could cause problems with the top door pushing against the bottom door (hard) if the bottom door didn't stayed closed after it was cranked shut. With the ratchet in place it is poosible to easily force the gear into the ratchet because the clutch will tighten if the crank shaft is driven in that loosening CCW direction, and if that happens it will cause the handheld drill motor to possibly pry out of the users hand and fall 8' to the ground or someones foot. So the present setup it the safe way to go, the door can be closed fast with the drill and that is what we need in case of rain or hail, and opening the dome is fast if you grab the handle well and spin in hard a couple of times in the CCW direction.
