Adjusted the ADR as far North as possible on the CHIP "handle" to prevent vignetting H-alpha telescope in the morning, moved it as far in as possible to reduce possibility of vignetting Mk4 telescope at midday. This is probably about as good as we can align the ADR in its present design, this will favor avoiding vignetting of telescopes in the morning when the data are best and at noon when the dome needs to turn the most, we should try to stay within a few inches of this position. In the afternoon the dome will have to be turned manually as usual, maybe every 20 or 30 minutes. Possibly we can add another dome sensor near the CoMP telescope O1 wired in parallel with the existing dome sensor mounted on CHIP, to get afternoon Automatic Dome Rotation too. I'll discuss the electrical implications with Allen. ___end___ NOTE BY DARRYL: Sun Mar 14 21:51:00 GMT 2010 More ADR tweaking, Mk4 was being vignetted, this new position may cause some H-alpha vignetting in the mid-morning. ___end___ WEATHER COMMENT: Sun Mar 14 22:18:18 GMT 2010 Low clouds are moving in. ___end___ NOTE BY DARRYL: Sun Mar 14 22:18:53 GMT 2010 Tweaked ADR dome sensor back to a location near where I originally put it about on 3/4/10. This spot is the best compromise, that prevents Mk4 vignetting around noon and CHIP and H-alpha vignetting in the morning. The position I tried before this was well North on the CHIP "handle" and allowed midday tracking but the CHIP and H-alpha would have been vignetted a lot in the morning. Where the dome sensor is might need to be tweaked very slightly. ___end___ Sun Mar 14 22:44:41 GMT 2010 CHIP End Patrol WEATHER COMMENT: Sun Mar 14 22:44:59 GMT 2010 Clouds are getting thick and extensive, fog nearby, paused instruments and closed domes. ___end___ Sun Mar 14 22:49:56 GMT 2010 MKIV End Patrol **PSPT PROBLEM COMMENT BY DARRYL**: Mon Mar 15 00:14:35 GMT 2010 Didn't shutdown normally, stalled on pointing instrument back to start position. I manually pointed the dome.
