When I arrived this morning I found the shutter motor could spin when power was applied but the shutter would not move. The L-bracket was removed and reinstalled on top of the rack and the dome moves properly again. My first couple attempts at re-installing the bracket were unsuccessful becasue I didnt have enought force pulling both the bracket and rack down onto the pinion gear. I found that using a few straps and the block and tackel hooked to the base of the lift I could pull down on the rack just behind the drive motor and get good contact on the gear. From here I only need to apply a small force directly to the l-bracket to get everything to snug up. What a way to start the morning. ___end___ NOTE BY BEN: Sun May 20 18:02:53 GMT 2012 mk4 sees a strong polarazation, not sure why ___end___ Sun May 20 18:02:49 GMT 2012 CHIP LSD Sun May 20 18:04:40 GMT 2012 CHIP End LSD Sun May 20 18:04:58 GMT 2012 CHIP BiasLSD Sun May 20 18:05:47 GMT 2012 CHIP End BiasLSD Sun May 20 18:05:55 GMT 2012 CHIP Bias Sun May 20 18:06:42 GMT 2012 CHIP End Bias Sun May 20 18:06:50 GMT 2012 CHIP ReStart Patrol Sun May 20 18:47:53 GMT 2012 MKIV End Patrol Sun May 20 18:47:59 GMT 2012 MKIV Start Cal MKIV COMMENT BY BEN: Sun May 20 18:57:30 GMT 2012 Tried a cal to see if moving stages in/out would fix the polarization signal. but things have continued to degrade (on both mk4 and comp) so it looks like it was a sky signal ___end___ Sun May 20 19:02:28 GMT 2012 COMP End Patrol Sun May 20 19:06:46 GMT 2012 MKIV End Cal Sun May 20 19:32:16 GMT 2012 MKIV End Patrol Sun May 20 19:52:00 GMT 2012 CHIP End Patrol Sun May 20 19:54:46 GMT 2012 H-ALPHA End Patrol NOTE BY BEN: Sun May 20 19:59:28 GMT 2012 Tried to move shutter back down to release lower shutter.
