----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed Feb 20 17:08:33 GMT 2013 Year: 13 Doy: 051 Observer: berkey WEATHER COMMENT: Wed Feb 20 17:08:39 GMT 2013 temp 38f, wind 13mph from south east, clear skies above with thick cloud bank just to the east of the observatory. ___end___ NOTE BY BEN: Wed Feb 20 17:50:20 GMT 2013 Snowing ___end___ NOTE BY BEN: Wed Feb 20 18:01:23 GMT 2013 Weather stripping on main dome shutter is letting in a little bit of snow. Turning dome to minimize. ___end___ CHIP COMMENT BY BEN: Wed Feb 20 18:18:55 GMT 2013 Chip chiller powered up this morning, but the coolent resivor is still really not. (to the touch and beyond the scale on the therometer I dipped it wiht). ___end___ NOTE BY BEN: Wed Feb 20 20:35:22 GMT 2013 Gong shows lots of activity on teh east and west limbs with a very interesting prominace near 330, looks to me like a rotating tornado. Unfortuatnly fog banks keep blowing through every few minutes.. ___end___ **PSPT PROBLEM COMMENT BY BEN**: Wed Feb 20 20:36:43 GMT 2013 Pspt dome rotator spring that keeps the drive gear in the track needed tighting. Unfortuatnly the nut had crushed the threads of the bolt so the whole motor had to be removed and a new bolt installed. With new (SAE) bolt and spring tightened the rotation has been restored. Note all of the rotation system was metric. ___end___ PSPT COMMENT BY BEN: Thu Feb 21 02:02:57 GMT 2013 Pspt is off, PSPT circut breaker 4 and 6 dome motor and bench rec have been turned off. There is a lot of water coming down/through the walls so circuts shut off in case dripping near power strips gets worse. ___end___ NOTE BY BEN: Thu Feb 21 02:40:23 GMT 2013 Rained all day but now defiantly snowing again. ___end___ Thu Feb 21 02:40:35 GMT 2013 MkIV
