My impression of it is the motor is to cold. Akamai also keeps crashing with a kernal panic I think is is related to a bad signal from the retarder motor. ___end___ MKIV COMMENT BY BEN: Mon Mar 18 17:48:04 GMT 2013 Mk4 electroics shut down for a little while ___end___ Mon Mar 18 18:17:54 GMT 2013 COMP Start Patrol **GONG PROBLEM COMMENT BY LISA**: Mon Mar 18 18:26:04 GMT 2013 Gong appears to be oscillating. Gears were removed and bearings were lubed with tri-flow luburcant. I also found the retarder optic mount was poorly seated to its bracket which likley lead to some of the problem with binding in the drive train. This has now be reinstalled to it true location. THe retarder can now turn, but I am having other trouble with MK4. The data look spiky and I dont see a sky signal, and the barrel is getting stuck on the CCW limit before it completes a barrel rotation. Indicated position is 112.17 angle ___end___ Mon Mar 18 23:41:44 GMT 2013 MkIV 23_35.rawmk4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon Mar 18 23:45:33 GMT 2013 Year: 13 Doy: 077 Observer: berkey NOTE BY LISA: Mon Mar 18 23:45:48 GMT 2013 Restarted instruments. ___end___ Mon Mar 18 23:46:05 GMT 2013 MKIV Start Patrol MKIV COMMENT BY BEN: Mon Mar 18 23:49:01 GMT 2013 Rebooting akamai fixed the spiky ness but not the 112.19 CCW limit problem ___end___ Mon Mar 18 23:53:01 GMT 2013 MKIV End Patrol Tue Mar 19 00:01:57 GMT 2013 COMP End Patrol WEATHER COMMENT: Tue Mar 19 00:02:11 GMT 2013 idling due to clouds. ___end___ Tue Mar 19 00:06:48 GMT 2013: PSPT Abort Patrol Tue Mar 19 00:08:48 GMT 2013 MKIV Start Patrol Tue Mar 19 00:17:13 GMT 2013 MKIV End Patrol Tue Mar 19 01:14:51 GMT 2013 MKIV Start Patrol Tue Mar 19 01:28:33 GMT 2013 MKIV End Patrol Tue Mar 19 01:50:31 GMT 2013 MKIV End Patrol MKIV COMMENT BY BEN: Tue Mar 19 02:05:33 GMT 2013 Mk4 limit switch shaft must have got rotated w.r.t the barrel during bearing cleaning. Currently we cannot complete a full scan because barrel runs inot switches before reaching CCW stop. I think I understand how to fix this, but it will take at least 1 hour so I will do it on Wednesday. ___end___ Tue Mar 19 02:14:25 GMT 2013 MkIV 00_08.rawmk4 23_35.rawmk4 23_46.rawmk4
