Inital inspection showed no smuges, but fine dust particles scattered across the surface with a few larger ones. After an inital attempt to clean with 91% isopropal alchoal I found it impossible to work with the lens inside its mount . With direction from Dennis the field lens was removed from the mount and washed down with soap and water in a similar fashion to O1 cleaning. I found a ring of reside/particles/material? that seemed to be just around the edge of the occulter. I believe that leaking disk light has somehow slightly damaged the field lens coating making it more susceptible to collecting dust and harder to clean. I have now cleaned the field lens to the beast of my abilty given the tools on hand. There are still a few identifable dust spots but as far as I can tell the small particles have been removed. I think with lint/dust free wipers and a flow booth the procedure could be improved. ___end___
