----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri Dec 20 16:47:56 GMT 2013 Year: 13 Doy: 354 Observer: waters GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 16:48:12 GMT 2013 Kcor UPS was sounding its alarm when I came in this morning and all of Kcor was shut down. It seems it had been running on battery for about half an hour. The battery on and power on button were flashing red together, indicating that either the input voltage was too high/low or the utility line voltage and frequency were out of specification. I unplugged the ups, waited a bit and then replugged in. Everything started up in its normal state. ILX read 3.2C and after hitting the output button, it has started to climb. ___end___ WEATHER COMMENT: waters: Fri Dec 20 16:57:19 GMT 2013 Temp 33F with windspeed at 5mph from the South-Southeast. Skies are currently covered with orographic clouds at present. Road was icy from the first gravel road all the way up. Ice is pretty much decorating the whole area up here. Will wait a bit before opening domes. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 19:42:05 GMT 2013 It seems the clouds have cleared around the Sun. Kco is only at 33.7F, so I will wait to start it but I will start everything else. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 20:00:38 GMT 2013 I spoke too soon. Pspt crashed twice, while pointing the guider and then on taking dark frames. It clouded over again before either telescopes were pointed. Love those sucker holes... ___end___ Fri Dec 20 20:13:37 GMT 2013: PSPT Start Patrol Fri Dec 20 20:22:21 GMT 2013: PSPT Abort Patrol KCOR COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 20:19:30 GMT 2013 Temp has reached 35.1F. Made sure everything was ready but it seems Kcor is having trouble homing the polarizer. Each time I do it, it says current position 0.0 but the gui remains on screen and nothing happens. The MC4U conroller doesn't update the current position of the polarizer either. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 21:13:00 GMT 2013 Domes closed due to rain. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Fri Dec 20 22:24:52 GMT 2013 Restarted the Kcor computer to see if it would fix the homing problem. Seems to have have worked. ___end___
