----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sat Oct 18 17:05:27 GMT 2014 Year: 14 Doy: 291 Observer: waters WEATHER COMMENT: waters: Sat Oct 18 17:05:36 GMT 2014 Temp 47F with windspeed at 23mph with gusts up to about 34mph from the South-Southeast. A mixture of high and low clouds, fog, and rain. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Sat Oct 18 18:59:10 GMT 2014 Roof is leaking in the building; South side, the support in front of the main concert support. Also, across from that, towards the East, there is water coming down through the wall. There is a little bit of water at the bottom of the column. Both domes seem to have a dribble of water getting through the shutter. Depending on how hard it's raining and the wind blowing, it splashes and get everywhere. I covered PSPT with a clear tarp and part of it's spar in a trash bag to keep it from getting wet. Part of the floor upstairs is visibly soaked with water. Front end of the orange ladder is wet, with a bit of water pooling in front. Couldn't move the ladder too far but have covered the front end (which is right under the bottom part of the shutter) and put the kiddie pool there. Also a couple of buckets in other places. Readjusted the tarp on the upstairs spar but it looks pretty dry except for a couple of splashes here and there. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Sat Oct 18 22:44:43 GMT 2014 Refilled Comp but will keep the camera off just in case. Did another walk around to see what may be leaking and where. Emptied buckets and replaced them under leaks. Tried blocking the bottom of the doors to keep the rain out, unfortunately wasn't able to find a way to do it. The door on the East side, by Pspt, has been letting in water from the bottom. Also, the dog house had a bit of water that was coming in from the bottom of the door. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Sat Oct 18 22:54:38 GMT 2014 Heading down a bit earlier since the weather isn't getting any better and I think I have all the leaks with something to catch them. ___end___
