I think the hold down paw have disengaged from the rack. But it is possible that the rolled pin in the drive transmission has sheared. I really hope it is not the pin; and will be super disappointed with our contracting system if it is. We have had the replacement dome for nearly 4 year and it has been on the mountain for month. A-r-g. I will do some more detailed troubleshooting when the NOAA guys get up and I have a second pair of hands/eyes. Until then the skies have cleared and the dome is (stuck) open, so we lets obsever the sun. ___end___ Wed May 20 18:30:23 GMT 2015 KCOR Start Synoptic Patrol Wed May 20 19:01:11 GMT 2015 KCOR End Patrol Wed May 20 19:01:12 GMT 2015 KCOR Start Calibration script: c:\kcor\mlso-calibration22deg-20150323.ini Wed May 20 19:18:32 GMT 2015 KCOR End Calibration Script Wed May 20 19:18:49 GMT 2015 KCOR Start Synoptic Patrol Wed May 20 19:18:49 GMT 2015 KCOR Start Synoptic Patrol Wed May 20 19:40:42 GMT 2015 KCOR End Patrol Wed May 20 19:41:49 GMT 2015 KCOR Start Synoptic Patrol Wed May 20 20:20:19 GMT 2015 KCOR End Patrol Wed May 20 20:20:25 GMT 2015 COMP End Patrol GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Thu May 21 01:42:55 GMT 2015 Main dome did have an issue with the roller pin in the dome transmission drive train. With Greg's help I was able to remove the transmission and rebuilt it. In trying to remove some of the covers I may have galled the surfaces a bit so we should expect a little oil more oil leakage from around the back cover. This repair consumed the last roller pin we have on the mountain so I will pick up another spare; even though this should get us though the life of the dome... just like the last time. In testing the shutter it moved smoothy, but had a few extra clunks near the top of if travel. So if we can stop it about 4" shy of completely open I think we might get a little more life out of that pin. Checking in with Matt we still dont have a good idea when NSF will finish their process for approving the building work; but thing are progressing...... ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Thu May 21 01:44:43 GMT 2015 Immediately after our last dome check while we were still piling up the tools. A group from Red Rocks Community College showed up for a tour. Showed them around and may have gotten them a little more excited about science YEA!!! But now I am exhausted. And the sky is covered with clouds. ___end___
