----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Nov 5 16:26:36 GMT 2019 Year: 19 Doy: 309 Observer: waters WEATHER COMMENT: waters: Tue Nov 05 16:44:09 GMT 2019 Temperature 39F with windspeed at about 4-10mph from the South. Bit of cirrus above us and on the Eastern horizon at the moment. Will wait for better conditions before opening. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 05 17:50:13 GMT 2019 PM Blew off Kcor O1 ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 17:50:52 GMT 2019 Windows upstairs opened. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 17:51:06 GMT 2019 Spar was a bit unmanagable this morning. The Dec moved way too easily compared to the RA. In fact, when I was trying to pull down the spar to get it in a place so I could blow off the O1, it only moved in the Dec. I had push up on the T handle in the West in order to get the spar to move in the RA. Hopefully we can address this on the next over lap day. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 21:06:51 GMT 2019 Joan and Mike reminded me that Ben had sent out videos about the Dec being loose, possible broken. This accounts for the Dec being easy to move and my surprise this morning. Sorry. However, I think we should still loosen the RA a smidge as I was having a hard time moving it this morning. Unless this will affect the Dec handling, in which case we should abstain on the adjustment. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 21:59:16 GMT 2019 Gave a tour to two visitors. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 22:08:50 GMT 2019 Mike mentioned that he wasn't getting any images from the Spar camera since November 3rd. I restarted Iwii but I'm not sure if that helped or if there is something code related that Ben might have to look in to. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Tue Nov 5 22:19:27 GMT 2019 Things are looking a little dense and a smidge dark above us, closing the dome just in case. ___end___ GENERAL OBSERVATORY COMMENT BY waters: Wed Nov 6 01:55:41 GMT 2019 unfortunately no data today. Hoping tomorrow is better ___end___ ONSITE STAFF: waters
