----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Jan 12 17:40:47 GMT 2021 Year: 21 Doy: 012 Observer: mlso WEATHER COMMENT: mcotter: Tue Jan 12 17:46:33 GMT 2021 Temp: 39.5f, Humidity: 48%, Pressure: 28.782in, Wind: 4mph from 209degs, Skies: Mostly clear skies with some isolated Altocumulus clouds to the west. Visible dark blue inversion layer on the horizon at or below the level of Haleakala. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jan 12 18:25:48 GMT 2021 Started Kcor focus routine and could tell that the position of the new occulter was different from previous occulter as there was an enormous amount of over saturation of light in the bottom left side of the image. I put the lens cover back into place and corrected the Guider Zero-Point Offsets with lens cover in place. Afterward I removed the lens cover and fine tuned the Guider Zero-Point Offsets; the offsets are now X(RA): -100, Y(Dec): 30. Checked image with Polarizer in beam and image checks good; Mid, Bright, Dark, Mid. ___end___ GPS COMMENT by MLSO: Tue Jan 12 21:45:08 GMT 2021 Successfully logged in to system Unable to mount disk GPS software failure to start ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jan 12 21:52:35 GMT 2021 Clouds forming over observatory, and to the east, south and west of Maunaloa summit. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jan 12 22:00:16 GMT 2021 Clouds have increased and are now blocking viewing. Kcor paused. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jan 12 22:40:31 GMT 2021 Clouds have increase over the observatory. Closed dome shutter doors and windows. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jan 12 23:00:04 GMT 2021 I installed a new dome position sensor bracket. I have aligned it to the best of my ability but clouds have moved in and I am unable to verify the sensor position at this time. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed Jan 13 02:04:04 GMT 2021 I installed the second dome position sensor bracket. The sensor(s) are installed but because cloud coverage and dense fog I am unable to confirm the sensor position at this time. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed Jan 13 02:06:15 GMT 2021 The day started out clear and data was taken with Kcor and the new occulter. It started getting cloudy in the early afternoon, then dense fog and light precipitation followed. ___end___ ONSITE STAFF: mcotter
