Hale and freezing rain has been going on for the past 20 to 30 minutes. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun Feb 28 01:06:51 GMT 2021 Thunder and lightning is taking place along with freezing rain, sleet and small pellets of hail. POSSIBLE LIGHTNING STRIKE: when I was about to exit the observatory to cover the GONG a lightning strike hit directly in front of the observatory and all power dropped out off the observatory. I called Ben and made him aware of the situation. Ben instructed me to check the instrument panel on the power regulator in the front of the observatory; the three phases were all in the green and the instrument power light was illuminated. After Five minutes the power came returned and everything seemed to come up properly. There doesn't appear to be any damage incurred from the strike. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun Feb 28 01:08:13 GMT 2021 Weather conditions are very poor with freezing rain and hail. I am going to cover GONG and then head down the mountain. ___end___ ONSITE STAFF: mcotter
