----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Nov 30 18:06:04 GMT 2021 Year: 21 Doy: 334 Observer: berkey WEATHER COMMENT: mcotter: Tue Nov 30 18:13:53 GMT 2021 Temp: 34.9f, Humidity: 84%, Pressure: 28.754in, Wind: 22mph from 146degs, Skies: Scattered clouds across all areas of the sky from low elevations up to very high elevations. Very, very windy blowing steady from the south-southeast, with occasional gust over 40 mph. Wet roads from the Saddle Road up to approximately 9000' elevation, then very slippery frosty, icy roads to the science center. I had great difficulty driving up the slopes into the science center and had to drive on the lava on the side of the road to get the traction necessary to make it up the incline. Winter has arrived here in Hawaii, as there is snow on the summits of Maunaloa and Maunakea! Quite beautiful! ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Nov 30 18:14:34 GMT 2021 Due to overcast skies and high winds I am unable to open the dome at this time. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Nov 30 19:37:36 GMT 2021 PM Blew off UCoMP O1. Patrick requested photos for the Ucomp 01 Lens frame and mounting area. I took several photos of the Ucomp 01 Lens mounted in the instrument. I set up a new folder in the "MLSO-Shared Google Drive" named "Ucomp Lens Mount". The folder is a sub-folder contained in the "Instruments" folder, then in the "Ucomp" folder. I sent an email to advise Patrick of the new folder. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Nov 30 19:42:06 GMT 2021 PM Blew off Kcor O1. While blowing off and inspecting the Kcor 01 I saw that a socket head cap screw (SHCS) was missing on the shroud that covers the various filters forward of the 01. I replaced the SHCS and checked the remaining hardware on the shroud. Some of the hardware was slightly loose. I re-tightened all the hardware on the shroud. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Nov 30 19:42:26 GMT 2021 PM Blew off Kcor Field Lens. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed Dec 01 01:51:23 GMT 2021 No data taken today.
