The dome shutter doors and windows are now closed in the event of precipitation. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Mar 28 00:29:37 GMT 2022 Vacuumed control room floor. Emptied all observatory trash receptacles. Scrubbed and cleaned the sink area, emptied the waste water container beneath the sink and added the spare gallon of fresh water to the sink fresh water reservoir. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Mar 28 01:30:14 GMT 2022 The last time Ben and I had cleaned the optics using the cleaning bench within our self made "Clean Room" we realized that every time we entered the clean room we brought in a considerable amount of dust and other foreign particles. We became aware of this by observing the beam of light from the spotlight we use for looking at the optics. The beam is quite powerful and when a person is sitting next to the spotlight anything floating in the air is easily observed. When the spotlight was first energized the light beam was relatively free from any particles floating in the beam. After going in and out of the clean room a few times we could see a very big increase in the particles floating in the beam. We constructed the walls of the temporary clean room out of plastic sheathing. Our doorway was a seam where two sheets of the plastic overlapped. After repeatedly entering the area, we began to realized our bodies were rubbing up against the exterior plastic sheathing wall. This unknowingly was dragging considerable amounts of foreign particles into the area. I have redone the entry area of the clean room and have made an entry way that allows us to enter and exit the area without our bodies having to touch any surface other than our feet on the floor, and there we have a tact mat. We'll need to wait until we are using the clean room again to see if this fix is effective. I should add after the clean room was constructed the portable HEPA room air purifier, formerly in the dome area, was moved to this new sealed off clean room. The HEPA air purifier in this area (the clean room dimensions are approximately 8' x 10') has proven be very effective and is doing a excellent job of keeping the air within the clean room free of dust and particles. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Mar 28 01:31:25 GMT 2022 Changed tact mats in dome vestibule and clean room. ___end___ WEATHER COMMENT: mcotter: Mon Mar 28 02:55:50 GMT 2022 The cloud coverage has increased and there is a light mist in the air. The wind is light and steady from the north. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Mar 28 02:57:59 GMT 2022 The morning was beautiful and clear. Clouds began to move into the viewing area and form above the observatory in the early afternoon. ___end___ ONSITE STAFF:
