Though the images are a bit bright we were able to get a couple of hours of observations on both instruments. Now the sky is getting too bright to observe with either instrument. Also, the thick haze that I described earlier at lower elevations has made it's way up to the elevation of the observatory. This haze is is quite noticeable and is thick. We believe this haze is from the Kilauea Volcano which has been increasing in activity lately. ___end___ Tue May 17 21:03:03 GMT 2022 UCoMP Restarted from pause KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue May 17 21:04:19 GMT 2022 The Kcor instrument is now stopped due to poor sky conditions. ___end___ UCoMP COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue May 17 21:04:45 GMT 2022 The Ucomp instrument is now off due to poor sky conditions. ___end___ UCoMP COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed May 18 02:44:21 GMT 2022 Ben and I took the opportunity of poor weather to perform an inspection of the assembly where the 01 frame is mounted into. We removed the cover plate and photographed and inspected the internal cam mechanism that provides the thrust to the cones that hold the frame in place. I made a sketch of the assembly and put it in the shared Google drive under the folder Ucomp 01 lens frame housing. When we were done we cleaned the assembly and lubricated the cam mechanisms. The weather was a bit mist so we decided that we should wait until tomorrow to put the 01 back into the instrument. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed May 18 02:45:20 GMT 2022 The skies were very bright today from the very start of the day. We were able to get some observing accomplished but by late morning the skies were too bright to observe. ___end___ ONSITE STAFF: berkey, mcotter
