The Kcor instrument was in the middle of a Calibration but it needed to be aborted due to clouds. Within 10 to 15 minutes the sky has become totally overcast. The dome shutter doors have been closed due to heavy overcast skies. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Fri Sep 16 02:44:30 GMT 2022 Removed access panel from bottom of Spar to gain access to the Declination Drive. The Dec gear housing cover was removed and the worm and spur gear were lubricated with Moly grease. The cover was reinstalled then the Ball Screw Drive and nuts were also lubricated with grease by driving the Dec drive all the way to one extent then continuously applying grease to the Screw while driving the Dec drive to the opposite extent. The Dec drive was visually inspected for any issues and it was noted that the bottom Ball Screw Drive Boot came was out of position. The Boot was snapped back into position and everything else looked fine. The interior of the lower spar was vacuumed and cleaned. Finally a "Piano Hinge" was installed on the access plate to make it easier to open the panel to access the Dec drive and associated equipment. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Fri Sep 16 02:54:59 GMT 2022 While running the calibration sequence for Kcor clouds came into the viewing area and the Calibration was aborted. This is the first time that I encountered this anomaly and in the confusion I engaged the Abort command on the Kcor -Stand Alone Acquisition GUI instead of the Abort button on the Calibration page GUI. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Fri Sep 16 03:16:36 GMT 2022 The morning was hazy but clear until approximately 10:00 am HST when Orographic clouds came into the viewing area at which time observations ended. ___end___ ONSITE STAFF: berkey, mcotter
