----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tue Apr 02 17:40:32 GMT 2024 Year: 24 Doy: 093 Observer: lisapg, berkey, cotter Sky clear above, clouds sitting in saddle to the East at about 10,000ft. West, some citrus above and some clouds popping over hualalai but clear through the helicopter pass. Comment 8:03am: Arrived at MLSO site via helicopter, on-site Ben Marc Lisa. Came in, the inverter beeping in an alarmed state. DC low battery Alarm. The battery LCD front panel reported 95% full, but the inverter lost communication and assumed no battery. The generator started 8:06am. Bringing up the generator cleared up the alarm and stoped the beeping. 810, Kcor O1 at pulled The battery is at 98%, and the system is not working, it seems. The inverter couldn't see the batteries to pull from O1 sitting in the cradle 813am, Ben starting prep for wash. Marc starting wash 822am 8:25: Per instruction from EPC battery settings were changed. This made things worse. Beeping started again at 830am, lost power to the building. Power back on, 834am, lost power again 836, beeper off 838 and power restored. Battery settings restored about 8:40 fixing power drop outs. Fiber may be bad, 845am: Ben is headed to the Barns and Uchida building while I monitor up here. Ben plugged in new network firewall 826am. 850 testing wan combo port with Ben. Came down to the building 858am to get a better visual on everything to see if we can narrow down the problem. Seems we may have found the issue for the network. 910, breaker that was swapped has been turned on. Still having an issue with the network. Going to try some fiber swapping, see if it may be the fiber. 9:00 Per communication with EPC, they will fly up at the next available opportunity to tune the battery/inverter. 9:10am Ilx lightwave has been turned on for both kcor and ucomp. 9:20am Ben headed back down the building. 9:25am So far bad fiber on port 2, changed it out and we are green for the network so far 9:32am trying to get computers to connect now. So far, the computers are not seeing the network. 9:40am Ben has been able to access the gateway routing system from the computer now but still trouble shooting why the computers can see it at present. 9:45am weather check, clouds are still holding in the East but we're starting. To see a little bit of clouds pop up over the west of hualalai. The clouds towards Maui are still few still but keeping a close eye. 9:57am dome opening. 1007am spar on sun, ucomp lab view started. 10:38am Ben still working on the network, Marc washing the O1, I'm in the dome sadly watching the citrus cross and adjust the spar for Emily. 11:02 looks like the citrus is here to stay 11:10 O1 reinstalled into Kcor, but too much citrus above to take any data Weather check: clouds are starting to come over the sw ridge of Mauna Loa, not a lot but must keep an eye on it. 11:32 am Ben still working on the network issue. 12:38 generator off pilot headed up for pick up as clouds from saw are starting to move above us 13:00 Networking issues not resolved can't route traffic across the firewall router. The router was pulled for further troubleshooting off the mountain. 17:00 Firewall rules adjusted to allow traffic to flow; we can now ping and connect in both directions across the firewall. Rules may currently be too lose, but should allow a baseline for CSMT/NETS to connect and configure. Plan to take the router back up on Thursday.
