An automated CME Alert was sent out for PA: 282 Deg., at 17:51 UT. Upon further observations the anomaly was determined NOT to be a CME, but a very active Prominence region. A CME Retraction was issued using the original "CME Alert" email that was initially sent out regarding the anomaly. ___end___ Sun May 03 20:01:48 GMT 2026 KCOR Start Calibration script: c:\kcor\mlso-calibration22deg-20171025.ini Sun May 03 20:16:58 GMT 2026 KCOR End Calibration Script Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 20:31:28 GMT 2026 MLO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-05-03 20:26:00 Temperature : 52.32 deg F Dew Point : 40.64 deg F Pressure : 680.62 mbar Wind Speed : 7.83 mph Wind Direction : 346.5 deg Skies: Orographic clouds are beginning to come up the Maunaloa slopes from the Saddle Valley, but they are also forming and dissipating over the observatory and in the viewing area. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 20:32:19 GMT 2026 Kcor Stopped; The Kcor Instrument has been stopped due to clouds in the viewing area. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 20:39:57 GMT 2026 It appeared that the clouds may have dissipated overhead in the viewing area so I restarted the Kcor Instrument, but the sky remains very bright so I shut the instrument down again. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 21:19:32 GMT 2026 MLO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-05-03 21:14:00 Temperature : 51.39 deg F Dew Point : 41.92 deg F Pressure : 680.51 mbar Wind Speed : 6.26 mph Wind Direction : 344.1 deg Skies: The skies have become overcast with Orographic clouds. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 21:20:11 GMT 2026 Dome closed. A good morning for observing until clouds came into the viewing area at approximately 22:30 UT. A couple of automated CME reports were issued in which I was unable to identify a CME. I sent out an email to the MLSO group advising of this happening. I also called Ben to confer with him on what the anomaly may have been and we both agreed that it looked more like an active Prominence region. I issued a retraction using the initial automated CME alert email. I saw later in the morning another automated CME alert email was sent out for the same region. I did not issue a retraction for this email as there was definitely activity going on in this area and I thought someone with better expertise should comment on this anomaly. ___end___ Logger COMMENT BY mcotter: Sun May 03 21:51:35 GMT 2026 Log closed ONSITE STAFF: mcotter ___end___
