I am unfamiliar with this newly installed devise, but suspect it is a battery that has run low. ___end___ ** GENERAL PM mcotter ** : Tue Jul 21 19:27:09 GMT 2026 Previously I reported that there was a smoke detector beeping when I came in this morning. Using a ladder, I looked at the unit and did not see any obvious battery compartment, but there is a button on the front of the unit that when I pressed it the beeping stopped. The button has some annotation stating that it is used for test purposes. When Ben came in I told him about the detector beeping and about pressing the button. He said that he had the instructions that came with the unit, we will review the information to see if the beeping was a prompt for a test of the unit, or a signal indicating that the unit needs maintenance. ___end___ BY mcotter: Tue Jul 21 19:30:15 GMT 2026 When using the ladder/lift this morning the battery died while engaging the lift. I now have the unit plugged in and charging. We should put battery charging of this device on a regular weekly maintenance schedule. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Wed Jul 22 00:05:26 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-07-21 23:59:00 Temperature : 48.74 deg F Dew Point : 48.52 deg F Pressure : 679.67 mbar Wind Speed : 11.86 mph Wind Direction : 11.2 deg Skies: Fog, rain and drizzle currently at the observatory. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Wed Jul 22 01:27:44 GMT 2026 Network changes UH MLO net radio power moved off of a power supply in Keeling and on to a power supply in the radio room (via extension cords leading off the east wall of NDACC building. The MLSO network data path still runs though keeling but a new cable has been laid between Barns and Uchida. The plan is to do some consulting with the UH network operators and then switch the network over to a new path in the next week or so. ___end___ Logger COMMENT BY berkey: Wed Jul 22 01:28:06 GMT 2026 Log closed ONSITE STAFF: berkey, mcotter ___end___
